So our college, a few years ago, got a new board of directors who decided that the name "Rebel" was offensive and might insult others. So they assigned a new mascot (since we didn't have on to start with) "Red Hawk", which they said sounded enough like "Rebel" to please students. After 3-4 years they decided that Red Hawk was lame, and didn't really sound that much like Rebel. So after much debate the finally decided on "Red Storm", which sounds a lot more like "Rebel". Then they proceeded to color it black, except when he goes into "Tasmanian Dirt Devil" mode and turns red. He also takes on a nose ring and his eyes turn blue. Of course the school colors are red and blue, but lets not consider that when sketching the mascot.
Comments from Dixie Students:
This Mascot is for the bulls.
Now our mascot really sucks.
I thought the bull would be red.

I really don't see why we can't remain the "Rebels" and not worry about creating costumes and characters. But I'm not the one wielding the mighty checkbook.
